Broadcasting on sky channel 663, Vinappris is a revolutionary concept in digital television home shopping. Not only does the channel sell wine, it also educates its viewers about the wine it sells. The principal concept is that the wine bar acts as a living, breathing, backdrop to the live television pictures, and at times the filming moves into the wine bar to ask customers for their views on a particular wine. The wine bar features a huge floating slatted canopy which recalls the roof of a wine cellar (the floor is slate like a basement), under which a series of booths with their own LCD television screens sit. The other key design feature is a 10 metre long refridgerated 'wall of wine' which chills red and white wine to the correct temperatures behind frameless glazing. The wall of wine uses sliding library style ladders for staff to climb to access the wine. The bar itself is lit by a huge light-table like canopy from which glasses are suspended, and has a blue light illuminated ice trough running its entire length to store opened bottles of wine and champagne.
