Ainsdale Station, completed for Merseyrail, is a new £3.5m landmark low energy low maintenance station building, incorporating ticket office, staff facilities, Community Police facility, booking concourse, passenger DDA toilet facilities and retail. The project incorporates eco features to achieve the energy saving aspirations of Merseyrail, such as solar panels, rainwater harvesting and heat recovery systems. Other station improvements include road and car park re-modelling, platform canopies and platform extensions. We developed the design and completed all Network Rail GRIP stages (1-8 inc). We managed a multi disciplinary design service, to include Architectural, PD, Structural / Civil, M&E and Telecoms, to successfully deliver the project. In addition we attained the CEEQUAL international evidence-based sustainability assessment rating ‘Excellent’, for both design and construction stages. The project has been very well received by the local residents and all stakeholders. The design, intended to be welcoming and contemporary is also robust and provides a safe, enjoyable and accessible environment for passengers.
