This education project, in collaboration with Victoria Manser Architect, involved the external refurbishment of the Grade 2* listed St John’s Church and the construction of a new two-storey music department to link the existing school buildings with the adjacent church. The church will become an assembly and performance space and through working closely with the local planning authority a striking blend of old and new has been achieved. With a contract value of £3.9million the new music department has been constructed on a constrained site bounded by existing mature plane trees, meeting the highest acoustic standards. The project also involves the creation of a new landscaped space adjacent to the main school building.
