In this project, Texere Studio have created a bright and warm modern family home, transforming an elegant but tired ‘energy leaky’ existing Victorian building in Dartmouth Park, Kentish Town, Camden. The standard of new construction and finish is of the highest quality, and its appearance is in keeping with the conservation area and existing historic house. Texere Studio is proud of the result of their efforts and meeting the client and also local authority needs. The existing extension and conservatory has been replaced, the kitchen opened up into an open plan family space, a second floor with bedrooms and a bathroom have been added, and the whole house has been refurbished and upgraded thermally. New elements complement and are sensitive to the traditional existing building, but add a modern twist, including the ‘floating ceiling’, allowing light to cascade into the new open plan space from above.
