This project involved the sensitive conversion of an existing barn within a large farmhouse complex, transforming a former agricultural storage building into high-quality guest accommodation and comfortable living space. The completed barn conversion provides two generous en suite double bedrooms at first floor level, with a beautifully designed lounge and relaxation area on the ground floor. The design carefully balances the character of the original rural building with the requirements of modern residential use, creating a warm, practical and elegant addition to the wider farmhouse setting. The architectural scope included concept design and planning, together with an interior design package covering finishes, fittings, lighting, furniture, colours and the overall feel of the completed spaces. The result is a considered rural conversion which retains the charm of the original barn while providing comfortable, contemporary accommodation for family and guests. The client acted as a self-builder and carried out the construction work himself. The project therefore required clear, practical design guidance and a collaborative approach, supporting the client in developing and delivering the project directly while maintaining the quality and coherence of the overall design.
