The School in Putney was built by Erno Goldfinger in 1952 and is grade 2 listed. The limited space around the main building did not allow for a further extension directly linked to the school. The location and layout has been developed with another further extension in mind. It is a standalone structure opposite the previous extensions and forms Phase 1 of a larger project. The massing of the new building is relating to the previous extensions and its glazed link areas. The layout of the windows in the west elevation allows for a maximum flexibility within the future extension. Otherwise all principals of the previous extension have been repeated in order to avoid piecemeal development.
