TaylorHare were invited to prepare an outline planning application for up to 12 dwellings on a parcel of infill rural land within the village of Shadoxhurst, outside Ashford, Kent. The design carefully responds to the sensitive rural character of the area, with modest massing sitting comfortably in between the scale of the surrounding buildings. Together with a restrained palette of washed brickwork, timber and standing seam sheet profile roofs, the materials build on and takes reference from the adjacent properties, whilst adopting a sensitive response to the site’s found character as well as the wider context. The proposals were unanimously granted planning at committee towards the later part of 2018.
