New Build
Smithy Wood House , Smithy Wood Crescent , Sheffield , S8 0NU , United Kingdom
This scheme involved the provision of a new renal facility for Belfast based at the Ulster Hospital Site. The project involved the complete redesign of the building after achieving stage D, when the client carried out a site wide appraisal and changed the site and brief for the building. The redesigned building provided a 40 bed renal unit facility, with a mix of 5 bed bays and single bed bays - some of which can be used as isolation bays. The rest of the building comprised a spacious and well designed waiting area/reception, with the necessary support facilities and consulting rooms on the same level as the waiting and treatment areas. The staff ancilliary facilities and plant areas were then housed on levels either above or below. The project was procured through a partnering contract with a contractor working on another scheme on the same hospital site, bringing many benefits to the client. It also assisted in delivering the request from the client to increase the number of bed spaces just as the construction phase was getting underway. This was achieved and delivered on budget and programme by the whole team working together to deliver this high quality facility.
