We were approached by a local scout group to create a design which provides a new HQ that suits the growing needs of the group, with infrastructure that supports their vital role within the local community. The design had to facilitate the streamlining of a number of processes in order to make sure that the groups run as smoothly as possible with pick up and drop off more safe and secure on a weekly basis, in addition to more efficient use of space for the smooth running of expeditions, camping trips etc. Considering the immense hard work that volunteers contribute to the running of the group, well-designed ancillary spaces will not only enhance the experience of the Scouts but also the volunteers by providing dedicated spaces for admin, storage and drying; as it was highlighted that a lot of these responsibilities tend to spill over into personal homes. As such, the design needs to allow Scouts to be as enjoyable and fun as possible for the children and adults alike!
