New Build
Following the success of our pop-up space in 2017 for Brintons at Clerkenwell Design Week, Studioshaw were invited to design a much larger space this year, to launch the latest work for the carpet manufacturer by Timorous Beasties. The brief was challenging; to create a space large enough to exhibit the carpets in their intended format, showing their unique, huge repeat. Also the pavilion had to be built on a tight budget in 4 days and have a working life of only 3 days for the festival. We achieved the largest freestanding structure ever assembled for Clerkenwell Design Week. Our design solution was simple, to work with scaffolding; a ready to go system which is 100% reusable. This limits the material waste often associated with temporary structures and was quick to assemble. Scaffolding boards fixed vertically were used to clad the outside of the pavilion and were burned using a steel stencil with a beautiful pattern from the new collection. Internally, the carpets were hung from the scaffolding poles and fixed to a temporary floor surface. All of the structure and cladding was returned into the stock of the scaffolding company to be reused on other sites. prev / nextBack to Work
