Sandal Rise is a reconfiguration and roof extension of a 1970s bungalow in Solihull, transforming an inward-looking house into a contemporary family home overlooking an adjacent cricket ground. Studiogotz provided architectural services from concept design through planning permission, technical design and construction stage support. The project reinterprets the bungalow’s distinctive mirrored roof geometry, lifting key living spaces to first floor level to capture long views while maintaining privacy. A double-height social space and elevated terraces strengthen connections to landscape and sky. The roofscape becomes the organising architectural device, aligning structure, section and light to redefine the home’s relationship to its setting.
