New Build, Within a Conservation Area
29 Beechwood Road , Warley Woods , Birmingham , West Midlands , B67 5EQ , United Kingdom
5 Bedroom new build replacement dwelling with integrated health suite and garage. The plot was blessed with generous grounds, which gave greater capacity for expanding architectural tentacles into the landscape. Masonry planes - the bones - rise from the ground, capturing space, and releasing it through glazed voids. Three extruded gables, cloaked in a black metal skin, float above. This is a house composed of many elements, with many gaps - the massing deliberately broken down, temporarily capturing space, and releasing it again to provide a flowing, meandering movement. The open plan space penetrates the length, breadth and height of the dwelling, but changes scale, providing a variety of environments. This is a modern cathedral for living. The space providing connectivity between the souls and functions within and the landscape outside. The project has only just completed. We are excited to be comissioning photographs soon.
