Ongoing Project: The brief for the project was a new 4 bedroom family home in South Devon that serves as a place for family gatherings, and is adaptable to the changing needs of the occupants throughout their later years. The site has complex planning constraints being adjacent to a SSSI, a Scheduled Monument and within a UNESCO Global Geopark. We developed a brief with the client that aims for a high level of thermal performance to reduce energy consumption whilst in use, as well as integrating the most efficient energy generation and heat recovery systems. The design has been carefully developed to be sensitive to neighbouring properties, and draws material inspiration from a local context of Arts and Crafts properties constructed with brick, stone and render. We supported the client through the initial RIBA Stages, including feasibility design and a planning application, and are now progressing with technical design and construction.
