Oak Ridge is a contemporary new-build low energy house which has been sensitively designed to reflect aspects of local traditional Irish architecture. The house is located on an elevated site of the clients farmland, has been orientated to enjoy the dramatic views of the farm and the distant Silvermines hills. The well-proportioned design incorporates strong traditional design features such as a simple linear form with continuous eaves, consistent pitched roofs and recessed windows with a vertical emphasis. A limited palette of natural materials includes natural slate roofing, painted lime-rich render and feature dry stone wall ends. This new-build high performance house is designed to a Passivhaus specification which includes an insulated external envelope, airtight construction, triple glazing and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery.
