Alteration to existing property
The aim was to open the view from the front entrance to the patio at the back of the house. To achieve this, we removed the storage area and the wall flanking the existing staircase which was kept - our original design was an open - tread cantilevered staircase. A structural column was also taken down from the room adjacent to the patio. So the entrance hall was transformed as a beautiful view opened up through the house. The ground floor lavatory was made into a cloakroom with a much smaller lavatory, which made space for a wardrobe, a shoe-cupboard and a utility area. The landscape of the existing patio was changed to provide more space, with new paving and external lighting added. Conservation area. On the upper floor, the en suite bathroom was redesigned using crisp white marble and warm teak.
