Studio Spicer were commissioned to design a new contemporary family home on a traditional tree lined avenue set in Stratford-upon-Avon’s Conservation area. Our response was both specific to the client’s brief and the contextual arrangement of the site. Constructed over three storey’s, a top floor master suite floats above the children’s bedrooms and study, with open plan family accommodation opening onto the garden. During the project’s consultation period, sought by the local authority planning officer, the advisory panel for MADE (Midlands Architecture and the Designed Environment) commented that it “ ... considered that this is a very high quality architectural design ...... and that it would introduce a new design standard and precedent for more distinguished architecture in this Conservation Area.”
