Studio Spicer Architects were commissioned to convert an existing Grade II Listed former restaurant building into a new much needed children’s day nursery. We took an innovative approach to modify and refurbishing the existing building suitable to achieve ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted level building performance. Renewable heating and cooling has been designed for the heating and hot water for the building and sustainable, chemical free natural products have been specified for internal areas. An external play space is created in with canvas privacy shades, and slides from the first floor play rooms, linking as fire escapes for the children.
