Dexter Moren Associates were appointed as lead architect by RAM for the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Great Northern Hotel. Located at King’s Cross Central, the hotel comprises 91 luxury bedrooms, a bar and restaurant. Our role included coordination and production of documents for the extensive application of listed building consent in collaboration with CBRE, and the development and coordination of MEP services alongside Ramboll. The challenge with this project lay in the need to create a modern hotel within a listed Victorian building, compounded by structural and spatial difficulties. The existing basement areas saw extensive development within a very tight existing floor plate, to form a dry, efficient back of house for the hotel above.
