This project revitalised a 1960s modernist semi in a prominent position in East London, increasing floor area by 50% to support multi-generational living. A pre-fabricated roof extension, dropped into place to minimise disruption, created a light-filled studio with panoramic views. The design tackles building performance through a significant thermal upgrade, MVHR, and an Air Source Heat Pump. Strategic research secured planning for this unprecedented local addition, using a palette of natural, breathable materials to respect the area's character. By combining off-site construction with a client-led self build element, we delivered a high-performance, cost-efficient home fit for the future.
