New Build
A carefully architect-designed scheme for six new build flats and a house on an end-of-terrace plot designed to be built to Passivhaus standards. The concept for the scheme reflects the ecology of the site which is built on top of a pocket of ‘brickearth', a distinctive high-quality clay used to manufacture red rubbers. Adjacent to a former brickwork, bricks dug from the site are thought to have been used in many of the West End’s most renowned red-brick buildings. The design borrows formal details from the neighbouring area to create a contemporary addition to the urban landscape. The scheme successfully achieved planning permission from the committee in early 2020, where the design was celebrated by members as being a great example of exceptional design, and appropriate densification of a peri-urban site meeting the requirements set out in the Mayor of London’s Plan.
