Listed Building - Grade II, Within a Conservation Area, New Build
A garden refuge to the ongoing restoration of the B listed Edwardian house thought to be by Dunn & Findlay. The requirements for a garden summer house and garage were skewed to create a dynamic whole making more than the sum of the parts. The garden room is pushed out to grab the evening sun, the curved glass frontage also affords views of the garden. This space gives on to the garage via a large sliding screen to create a generous space for entertaining. The roof of the garden room cants over the integrated barbecue which also shares the wall with a gas fire to the sitting area. A workshop and store connects to the garage and the barbecue area. Reference is made to the house with the garage roof being clad in rosemary tiles and the projecting bay above the garage door being supported on two large red sandstone corbels, the walls are harled tying in further with the house and form a suitable contrast with the frameless glazing. The roof of the summer house is supported by a concealed edge beam mounted on slender10mm thick stainless steel fins.
