New build office extension providing additional meeting and office space for the Health Professions Council. The design optimises natural ventilation and daylighting. As the second part of a two phase project, the lift shaft has been extended and a lift car installed to provide disability access to all floors. The roof top meeting room and office space have open aspects to the front and rear, across timber decking and sedum planting. Zinc was chosen for the external cladding of the roof and walls. To improve biodiversity, a sedum roof covering has been laid on the main roof. Other sustainable features include low energy lighting, natural day lighting (to reduce the need for electrical lighting) and brise soleil (to control sunlight gains). It is intended that the rainwater from the roof of the new extension to be harvested to irrigate the planting to the lower roof terrace. External street landscaping includes pavement improvements to facilitate disabled access and improve the streetscape through tree planting.
