https://www.studio29architects.co.uk/i-am-bored A complete refurbishment and interior design project for a family in Holland Park. This project has been featured in both national and local press. House and Garden included it in an issue dedicated to “Five exceptional houses” - where it also made the front cover. The Resident London Magazine described it as rich in “fresh ideas that sit seamlessly within the period property, eking out the building’s potential and providing a design narrative that spans decades”. Studio 29 is currently working with the same clients on their holiday home in Norfolk. This top to bottom refurbishment and full interior design of a townhouse in Notting Hill is a great example of Studio 29’s multi-disciplinary skills - using a combined architectural, interior and garden design approach. For this project, a number of structural interventions were required, as was a rethink of the layout and a painstaking detailing of a number of missing original Victorian features. Then followed the interior design, landscaping and a full lighting and colour consultation. Truly an orchestrated labour of love between the clients, the contractors and their team of specialists, plus a number of artists and artisans who designed and manufactured special pieces for the house. All the furniture - with the exception of a few antiques that had been in our clients’ families for years - was specifically chosen for this house, as were the light fittings. However, by customising these elements, and mixing them with the clients’ art collection and family heirlooms, the end result was quite personal and original, “as though no interior designer had been involved” - as a friend of the family commented. We take that as the ultimate compliment!
