This project is part of a major capital investment in education projects currently underway in the area. It will improve educational opportunities for the young people of the City and equip them with the life skills needed for the twenty-first century. The vision is to create an 'employer driven' education system has the potential to reduce the effects of social and economic disadvantage across the City, as well as enhancing the area's overall educational offer in support of social and economic progress. With a significant proportion of new build replacing all but an existing three storey block the new buildings on the site comprise light industrial workshops and an extension to the existing hall structure. There is also a new entrance and admin facilities. This significantly improves the overall appearance of the site creating a new image for the newly formed UTC Plymouth. With its location adjacent to Devonport Dockyard, the UTC is a key stepping stone between local employers and the employees of tomorrow.
