Buxton in Derbyshire is home to one of the UK’s grandest and most extensive Georgian leisure complexes. The Crescent, Natural Baths and Pump Room, built in the late 18th century, made up one of the most popular holiday destinations of their time, where visitors and residents could enjoy the restorative effects of the spot’s natural thermal waters. Stride Treglown is part of the team restoring the magnificent structures and adding new facilities to allow modern visitors to take and bathe in the spring waters. The plan includes extensive conservation work, the creation of a world-class 5* spa hotel within the existing fabric and promoting public access to the buildings. The scheme, it is hoped, will spur the regeneration of Buxton and make it an international destination once again.
