The client body appointed us to undertake a Masterplan to address access to Burton Agne Hall and Gardens. Following the success of growing visitor numbers the car parking and access was not working well and the client instigated the commissioning of a Masterplan. The masterplan consultation involved the local conservation officer and English Heritage and a series of local stakeholders. Significant research and consideration had to be given to the various heritage assets. These range from Scheduled Ancient Monuments, 1, 2* or 2 Grade Listed. Including Burton Agnes Hall, the Norman Manor House and the Church of St. Martin. Following general agreement from all parties the Masterplan and the first phase of development was approved with planning consent. The large new car park, highway entrance, access roads and revised pedestrian access and landscaping were taken forward to completion. Working with a QS, Transport/Highway Consultant, Engineer and using our in-house Landscape Designer, a comprehensive set of construction information was tendered. We project managed the scheme through to completion in December 2014. The scheme has been a huge success improving the visitor experience of an incredible heritage asset whilst not reducing the significance and setting.
