Stephen George and Partners have been appointed as master plan architects for Dickens Heath village centre in Solihull, consisting of 11,000 sq m of retail and commercial development integrated with 230 dwellings. The creation of a dynamic village centre, linking the unique waterside development with all other residential zones has been achieved through a sequence of static and dynamic urban spaces and pedestrian routes. The design of the residential element addresses a wide range of social needs, from studio apartments to large town houses, forming individual environments with distinct character to encourage community life. The first Phase of the development commenced on site in 2003. Final Phase now on site (2008).
