Alteration to existing property, Listed Building - Grade II, New Build, Within a Conservation Area
This project, for a previous client, has involved the complete renovation and extension of a Grade 2 listed farmhouse, the construction of a series of new-build Cotswold stone 'barns' around an entrance courtyard, and extensive landscaping works. Several unsightly later additions were removed from the house and a contemporary extension with Crittall windows added on the south front, which enjoys wonderful panoramic views. The interior layout has been simplified with clear north-south and east-west axes created which connect with the gardens and landscape beyond. Externally, the house has been completely restored including new stone mullioned windows with metal-framed casements and a new roof. The series of new 'barns' accommodate a poolhouse, games room, staff cottage, garage and gym. We have worked closely with Rose + George Design on the interior design and Angel Collins Design on the landscaping works. A final phase of works will involve the construction of the guest cottage, on the site of an unsightly 1970s bungalow, which will include a timber-clad 'dovecote' structure, inspired by several historic dovecotes in the area.
