Alteration to existing property, Within a Conservation Area
A large Victorian semi-detached property, which had been converted to flats in 1947, was restored as a family house with a small self-contained basement flat. The work to the front elevation mainly involved thorough restoration and cleaning of the brickwork and terracotta detailing, with some windows added at the lower levels to light the flat and gym. A two-storey contemporary 'glass box' rear extension allows for a larger ground floor kitchen, first floor 'Media Room', and an improved connection with the extensive rear garden and terrace. The original proportions of the principal reception rooms and bedrooms, as well as the magnificent staircase, have been reinstated, with new bathrooms and plenty of discreet built-in storage etc.
