Burford Road Business Centre is situated within an area of modern residential and commercial developments, 500m to the south of central Stratford and Stratford Station. Built-in 2004 the property is of steel frame construction with a combination of a glass and brick façade. Our client’s brief asked us to investigate enhancing the building’s appearance, introducing extra storeys together with an interior conversion to offer a flexible approach to the provision of both self-contained and shared co-working office spaces. The main entrance features a unique post-tensioned helical concrete staircase that acts as a focal point to the reception - to our knowledge the only staircase of its kind in existence. Beyond the staircase lies a small open zen garden. A 2-storey glazed roof extension rests upon the existing building providing elevated views of the Olympic Park. The roof incorporates both green and blue roof systems. The building offers a network of flexible meeting rooms, conference facilities & break-out spaces with shared kitchens. We were also tasked with space planning & setting out all key spaces including interior design.
