The Client purchased the house from the Estate of the previous owners. We set about re-designing the house before Completion of the Contracts using my half-day design service. This included works throughout the house but the main features were: Basement conversion into one single room to be used as an office, with a new light well and access to the front. As this property is within a Conservation Area the door to the basement was designed to resemble a sash window in proportions with glazing to the top half for light. Rear Extension, removing the kitchen walls, and rear wall to the house opening up the rear interior. The “lean-to” style infill extension to fill in the “yard” has a simple glazed pitch to flood light into the kitchen and back into the main part of the house. We also included a glass panel in the floor to allow light down into the Basement. The first floor was refurbished to install 2 en-suite bathroom and a new main bathroom and the attic storey had a new lead dormer to the front and a replacement one to the rear to improve the light in the attic room. Finally a new boundary wall and railings were installed following the design of the walls within the Conservation Area.
