Awards Winner - RIBA East Award 2014 Winner - British Homes Award 2015 Broombank is a new build dwelling, overlooking the River Alde. It takes advantage of the existing site topography, sitting in the hillside to use the thermal insulation of the earth and reducing its visual impact to the surrounding area, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The resulting pavilion containing the bedroom suite offers panoramic views of the river and estuary. The ambition is to create a stunning contemporary house whilst maintaining high energy-efficiency. The thermal mass of the block walls and concrete floors along with the earth bank and green roof will help in maintaining a constant temperature within the house. High spec insulation combined with a whole house ventilation system and careful detailing will minimize heat loss reducing energy consumption and bills. Works are set to start on site September 2012 completing Summer 2013.
