About the practice

Founded by Benny Kwok and Mira Yung, Sml brings a layered perspective shaped by time in Tokyo, London, Vancouver and Hong Kong. From their collective experience with Kengo Kuma and Herzog de Meuron, they have a shared instinct for reading and resolving complex scenarios. Projects begin by paying attention to what already exists: the site, the brief and how people move, gather or pause. Rather than applying a fixed style, the aim is to shape a response that feels rooted in place, function and intent. Some spaces are bold, others quiet. Geometry, light and material rhythm form the framework; proportions and details shape the feel. The name Sml comes from Small, Medium and Large: a reminder that thoughtful design matters at every scale.
