This project involved the complete transformation and renovation of a 1950’s bungalow. We took advantage of an existing under croft at the rear of the house, to create a double height open-plan living room, that leads onto a terrace with coastal views. Structural glass rooflights over the kitchen and hallway allow natural daylight to flood in from above. A new annexe at the front of the house provides private accommodation for the client’s teenage daughter. The design retains over 80% of the load bearing structure of the original house, thereby minimising the embodied carbon of the build.
