Alteration to existing property
Renovation and extension of a home in Queens Park North West London. The client’s brief was a deceptively simple proposition: can we create a ground floor extension that is environmentally low-impact and budget friendly, without compromising on design. Working in a collaborative design process, the result is a project that makes efficient use of structure and materials whilst delivering a tailor-made home for our client. From the very start of the project, the construction methods were taken into consideration. The proposals were developed to minimise complex and costly steelwork and avoid the use of carbon-releasing concrete. This lead to a scheme formed of simple structural components: a suspended floor construction, exposed timber rafters and the retention of existing brickwork where possible.
