Alteration to existing property, Sited in AONB, Listed Building - Grade II
Renovation of grade II listed agricultural outhouse into a holiday let property located in the Chilterns, an area of outstanding natural beauty, near Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire. Constructed from flint and brickwork, the original structure was in a state of disrepair. The design proposed to restore the exterior and upgrade the interior, by installing replacement timber trusses, new roof and insulating the whole envelope. A palette of complementary materials was chosen to both enhance the existing structure and be cost effective: corrugated metal roof, steel-framed windows and internal timber panelling. The clients intend to use the building as a small holiday let, so the space was compactly arranged to fit a kitchenette, bathroom and mezzanine sleeping loft.
