The Rye Harbour Discovery Centre for Sussex Wildlife Trust includes exhibition spaces, a classroom, a wildlife garden, and a highly rated café with panoramic views of the reserve. The building aims to meet the requirements of visitors while responding to the unique saltmarsh landscape of the nature reserve. The building focusses strongly on visitor experience and education and is achieved from views within the main spaces.The form of the building is responds to the topography of the nature reserve and captures the best available views. The timber used in the building includes shaped glulam roof timbers and sweet chestnut timber cladding from local coppiced woodland.
