We have gained planning approval for a new build house in the metropolitan green belt near Kings Langley. This is a sensitively designed modern, low energy, four bedroom house that replaces and consolidates a collection of ramshackle sheds. The house has been designed to be of a high architectural quality, positively contributing to our built environment. The new house responds to the topography by stepping down with it, rather than opting for huge excavation, which we wanted to avoid due to environmental considerations. With a covered south facing veranda, the new dwelling will afford views across the rural countryside. The proposal is for a low energy design, with a fabric first approach to ensure a well-insulated, airtight home. Green roofs, MVHR and Solar panels will be incorporated as part of the detailed design.
