The client wanted the design to have an environmental focus incorporating ground source heating and biomass so a passiv haus principle was adopted to achieve this. A contemporary design, to reflect the modern technology being used internally, using a combination of brickwork and timber cladding was used to achieve the desired outcome. A unique roof shape has been incorporated into the design, allowing us to maximise the sun path, to create a large area of south facing solar tiles to power the building. We also specified a timber frame structure due to its sustainable qualities, speed of build and low energy use in the manufacturing and installation process.
