The client for Cornelia Street approached Shinz Design, recommended by previous client, with lots of ideas in mind. Shinz Design helped the client organise their thoughts, simplifying and enhancing their design preference, to create a calm and elegant space for the young family. The existing mid terrace house, located in Islington, London, was built as part of a new addition to a 1960’s development, inheriting a similar design to the rest of the estate. The contemporary design of the project aimed to bring a touch of sophistication to the house, without overwhelming the existing settings. The completed scheme, involving a single storey rear extension, and internal refurbishment, compliment the client’s sociable, yet down to earth character. Modestly built to retain as much garden space as possible, the new extension brings in generous amounts of natural light through its modern glass box and skylight, creating a bright, open plan kitchen, dining, and living area.
