Listed Building - Grade II*, New Build
Sheppard Robson , 77 Parkway , Camden Town , LONDON , NW1 7PU , United Kingdom
Fitzroy Place is the regeneration of a city block in London’s West End, on a key site in the heart of Fitzrovia. The mixed-use proposals consist of 291 residential units (237 market and 54 affordable), two significant new office buildings, retail/restaurant space and community facilities all focused on a new publicly accessible courtyard at its centre. The scheme replaces the former Middlesex Hospital yet retains its Grade II* listed chapel. Sheppard Robson and Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands have collaborated on the detailed design of the commercial and residential elements of the scheme, each taking an office building and residential blocks to create a richness inspired by the variety of the streetscapes and frontages around the perimeter of the development. Read more… The office buildings are designed to complement one another in offering an optimised range of office space in terms of floor space and configuration. Each meets demands of modern occupiers in terms of efficiency and flexibility for subdivision and open/cellular space planning options, whilst the coherent design character inside and out avoids an anodyne working environment. The upper floors of each building step back to provide a generous terrace and panoramic views of the London skyline. The larger east building features a dramatic atrium and hotel style lobby whilst the west building features a distinctive vaulted roof profile creating lofty accommodation at the top storey.
