New studio space in Brockley, S.E. London. The original area is a large open plan but characterless volume. In order to define the space and create an engaging environment we have inserted a large cork clad box that differentiates studio space and social space. - The studio is located within the box and feels cosy, warm and active whereas the social space is what remains outside the box and is more open and fluid. The surfaces of the cork box then become interactive surfaces covered in holes to allow a changeable landscape of storage and display whilst increasing acoustic performance and enabling discreet ventilation.
