This Facility is a private commercial unit located in the grounds of the Royal Preston Hospital in Lancashire. The development consists of a single storey building built into an existing mounded site, with a green roof, to minimise the impact of a buildiing on the site and with respect for residential units overlooking it. The unit contains a specialist machine (cyclotron) contained within a concrete bunker. This generates the isotope required for the manufacyure of radioactive pharmaceutical products. Class D Clean rooms provide the fully regulated GMP production facility, primarily for the production of a radioactive drug called FDG and to a lesser extent other radioactive products used in the treatment of cancer patients.
