Southwark
£0.5m to £0.99M
Within a Conservation Area
A new three bedroom house in Southwark on a former garage site. The building has two floors and a basement with terraces and a lightwell sensitively hidden behind the existing London stock boundary brick wall. The building partially sits on these walls. There is a central staircase with two wings constructed of red brick with different brick bonding. To the front these wings are projecting three storey vertical oak bay windows with oak ventilation panels to their sides. The design approach is to create a building that incorporates elements of the local building vernacular, such as blank gables with flat edged roofs, ordered timber vertical windows and a mixture of London Stock and red bricks. The intension is that this new home is a sensitive addition to the Thorburn Square conservation area and at the same time is a contemporary new family home, self build by the client with our assistance.
