Haringey Glazed Extension refurbishes and extends a Victorian townhouse in Stroud Green, within a conservation area. The project involved stripping back and reconfiguring much of the existing house, resolving damp and structural issues while restoring its character. A new double-height glazed and oak-framed extension creates a light-filled living space, with a frameless corner opening views to the garden and sky. Internally, a bespoke oak and steel staircase and suspended lighting elements add sculptural quality. The open-plan layout improves flow and connection to the garden. Shortlisted for the AJ Retrofit Awards 2021, the project demonstrates sensitive yet contemporary intervention.
