Alteration to existing property
Studio 2.01 , 4-10 North Road , London , Greater London , N7 9EY , United Kingdom
Bounds Green Corner & Roof Extension remodels a prominent 1930s Art Deco building opposite Bounds Green Underground Station. The project replaces poor-quality alterations with bronze-coloured glazing, restoring coherence and reinterpreting Art Deco principles in a contemporary way inspired by Charles Holden’s nearby station. Projecting horizontal bands emphasise the curved geometry, culminating in a distinctive roofline, while tall glazing enhances street presence. An additional storey increases office and residential space, carefully integrated with the existing building. The scheme transforms a neglected corner into a strong civic marker, demonstrating how targeted interventions and rooftop extensions can revitalise buildings and enhance the streetscape.
