Barnet Brick House is a contemporary six-bedroom detached family home in Barnet, North London, replacing a dilapidated existing building with a carefully crafted new-build residence. Satish Jassal Architects designed the house to respond sensitively to its established residential setting while providing generous accommodation for modern family living. Traditional materials and architectural details, including variegated brickwork, stone window surrounds and a slate roof, are reinterpreted to create a contemporary home with a strong sense of permanence and character. Arranged over four floors around a central entrance hall, the house is filled with natural light through carefully positioned windows and rooflights. A consistent stepped detailing language is used throughout the elevations, brickwork and internal spaces, giving the house a coherent architectural identity. Satish Jassal Architects provided architectural services from planning through technical design and construction to completion, overcoming a number of challenges during the build. Barnet Brick House demonstrates our experience as residential architects in Barnet and North London, specialising in new-build houses, replacement dwellings, large family homes and contemporary residential architecture that responds carefully to its local context.
