Lignum Chair is a sculptural piece created to incorporate the unique qualities of wood and highlights its incredible potential, particularly in the context of Industry 4.0. The project merges innovative design inspired by natural forms and traditional craftsmanship. Computational design tools are employed to achieve a fluid design that optimizes the chair’s structural integrity by eliminating unnecessary material and introducing openings to reduce weight. The design features continuous, nature-inspired geometries with alternating convex and concave shapes, creating shadow patterns that accentuate topological continuity and the organic fluidity found in naturally optimized forms.
