This attractive Victorian house set in extensive grounds between Oxford and Henley-on-Thames, was in need of complete refurbishment. The property had high ceilings, deep cornices, feature fireplaces and well proportioned accommodation on three floors. Initial works included re-tiling the entire roof and the incorporation of modern insulation materials. Rainwater goods were refurbished or replaced, new double glazed sash windows were installed to match the original period design and internal shutters were renovated. Structural alterations were carried out internally to provide modified reception areas, additional bathrooms and access to the second floor. At ground floor a large kitchen/family room and dining area was constructed with additional bedroom accommodation on each of two floors above. All heating, plumbing and electrical services were replaced and a solar thermal domestic hot water system was provided along with a natural water borehole and underfloor heating.
