A derelict watermill in the Brecon Beacons National Park has been restored and partially converted for residential use. The machinery has been largely retained, while allowing living accommodation to be fitted around it, with a kitchen and dining on the ground floor, living room on the first floor and bedroom in the roof. All materials were locally sourced: building stone recycled from demolition; slates re-used; timber from our woodland and local sawmills. The roof and some of the walls were insulated; there is no electricity supply and all water comes from a spring on the land. Firewood for heating comes from local woodland.
